About

Beacon Spec is building three layers on top of the Model Context Protocol: an open spec for commerce-aware Server Cards, a curated marketplace of MCP-enabled businesses, and a hosted MCP service for small businesses that don’t want to run their own server.

This builder is the on-ramp to the first layer. It exists so that a small business owner can publish a spec-conformant Server Card without writing JSON or reading an Internet-Draft. It is the Yoast SEO of the agentic web.

The spec

The Commerce Profile is an extension of the MCP Server Card defined by SEP-1649. It adds a commerce block with business identity, geography, vertical, capabilities, and OIDC-based account metadata. The normative spec is filed at the IETF as draft-soden-wellknown-mcp-commerce-00, authored by David Soden and Duane Walker on behalf of Beacon Spec.

All generated files validate against the JSON Schema for Commerce Profile v1.0.0, included in this repo at data/commerce-profile-schema.json.

How to contribute

The builder is open source under Apache 2.0. The spec text is dual-licensed CC BY 4.0 (and will fall under IETF Trust BCP 78 once the I-D is adopted). File issues or send PRs at github.com/beaconspec/builder. The spec lives at github.com/beaconspec/mcp-commerce-profile.
